How it works
The Battery Bonus program ($850/kW upfront + monthly capacity credits) hit its enrollment caps and is closed — Oahu enrolled 46.8 MW against a 40 MW cap. Hawaiian Electric's successor is Bring Your Own Device Plus: you buy your own battery, enroll it, and get paid for evening grid export. With ~40¢/kWh electricity, Hawaii's battery payback is still the best in the country even without an upfront bonus.
