Best for: Apartment and suburban outage kits sized for a fridge, router and phones, where fast wall recharging matters more than solar.

Skip if: You plan to add capacity later, you'll lean on solar during long outages, or you need 240V.

Excluded: '(Members-only) DELTA 3 Max' $899, separate 'Flash Sale' listing $749, and all solar/charger bundles. What people who actually tested it found

We have not physically tested this unit and we do not pretend otherwise. Below is what independent reviewers and owners who have put hands on it reported — each claim linked to its source so you can check it yourself.

The short version: Bench-tested by TheSolarLab for charge speed, efficiency, idle draw and output. It does what EcoFlow says, with mid-pack efficiency and a low solar ceiling. We did not test it ourselves.
charge test

Charged from 0% to 100% in 68 minutes from a standard AC wall outlet.

measured efficiency + idle draw

Measured 79% efficiency and about 27W of idle consumption with the AC inverter on and no load, enough to drain the battery in roughly three days.

solar charge test

Took over four hours to fill from solar at the 500W input cap, even with ideal sun and an oversized array.

load test

Sustained loads slightly over the 2,400W continuous rating without shutting down, and surge handling was noticeably better than older EcoFlow units.

What testers flag that the spec sheet does not

  • Not expandable. If you might want more capacity, buy the Delta 3 Max Plus instead.
  • EcoFlow's product page mixes members-only, flash-sale and bundle variants with the base unit. The $879 base unit is the one a walk-up buyer can get.
  • 27W idle draw with the inverter on. Switch AC off when you don't need it during a long outage.
Read the surge number carefully: 4,800W is EcoFlow's surge rating; the 3,400W X-Boost figure is a reduced-voltage mode meant for resistive loads like kettles and heaters, not motors. TheSolarLab could hold loads slightly over 2,400W continuous. Size pumps and compressors off 2,400W.

Our take

The Delta 3 Max is EcoFlow's budget answer at the 2kWh size: 2,048Wh of LFP for $879 on EcoFlow's own store, which works out to about $429 per kWh. That's upper-middle in our database: behind VTOMAN, Dabbsson, OUPES's Mega 3 and Bluetti's Elite 300, level with Pecron's F5000LFP, ahead of Jackery's 2000 v2 ($440), and well ahead of every other EcoFlow we track. TheSolarLab's testing backs up the basics. It recharged from empty to full in 68 minutes on a wall outlet, ran nearly silent, and held loads slightly over its 2,400W rating without shutting down. Its numbers weren't standout: 79% round-trip efficiency and about 27W of idle draw with the inverter on, so it'll drain itself in roughly three days sitting idle. The real catch is that it can't be expanded. The 2,048Wh you buy is the 2,048Wh you keep, and solar input stops at 500W, which is low for a battery this size. If you might want more capacity later, the Delta 3 Max Plus is the version that takes extra batteries. Watch the store page too. EcoFlow lists members-only, flash-sale and bundle variants next to the base unit, and some of those prices aren't open to a regular buyer.

✓ Strengths

  • 2,048Wh for $879 direct, about $429/kWh, the cheapest 2kWh EcoFlow we track
  • Measured 0-100% AC recharge in 68 minutes in independent testing
  • Very quiet: rated 25dB at 600W, and testers called it nearly silent under full load

✕ Trade-offs

  • Not expandable. You're locked at 2,048Wh; the Max Plus is the expandable version
  • 500W solar input is low for a 2kWh battery (over four hours of ideal sun in testing)
  • Measured 79% round-trip efficiency and about 27W idle draw with the inverter on

EcoFlow Delta 3 Max problems & common complaints

No unit is flawless. Here are the honest weak points — from our own spec audit and from reviewers and owners who actually used it — so you know what you're accepting before you buy:

Spec caveat: 4,800W is EcoFlow's surge rating; the 3,400W X-Boost figure is a reduced-voltage mode meant for resistive loads like kettles and heaters, not motors. TheSolarLab could hold loads slightly over 2,400W continuous. Size pumps and compressors off 2,400W.

Sourced from manufacturer spec sheets plus the independent tests linked under "What people who actually tested it found" above. We flag problems even on units we earn commission from — that independence is the point.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between the Delta 3 Max and the Delta 3 Max Plus?

Same 2,048Wh battery. The Plus supports expansion batteries and has more output and solar input, and it costs more. The plain Max can't be expanded.

How long does the Delta 3 Max take to charge?

From a wall outlet, TheSolarLab measured 0-100% in 68 minutes. On solar it's capped at 500W, which took them over four hours in ideal sun.

Will it run a refrigerator during an outage?

Yes. A typical fridge averaging 100-150W runs for roughly 11-17 hours on 2,048Wh at 85% inverter efficiency. Leave the inverter on only when you need it, since the measured idle draw is about 27W.
