Refrigerators are the most common reason to buy backup power - a fridge holds $200-400 of food, and the USDA says food is unsafe after 4 hours above 40°F with the door closed. The good news: fridges are cheap to back up. At a 35% duty cycle, one uses only ~62Wh per hour after inverter losses. Keep the door shut and even a 1kWh station protects your food most of a day. The number that disqualifies small inverters is the compressor start surge - clear 1,200W and you're safe.
